Alex Magaro
Director
Alex Magaro joined Renaissance Technologies as a principal in 2003 and is currently responsible for co-managing Meritage, a fundamentally-oriented fund which invests primarily for the benefit of the Renaissance principals. From 2000-2003, Alex was a partner at Topspin Partners, a private equity fund affiliated with and seeded by Renaissance, where he focused on traditional leveraged buyouts as a generalist.
Prior to Topspin, Alex invested in a leveraged buyout of McIntyre Associates in 1995, a staffing services firm. He joined McIntyre as its principal owner and CEO and subsequently grew the business substantially, selling it in 2000.
Alex received an AB from Harvard College where he majored in Economics, graduating with Honors. He was both a Harvard College Scholar and John Harvard Scholar.
